The Adult Developmental Services’ provides day
program support to adults (18+) who have a developmental
challenge. Currently there are 35 people who attend and
are supported by 9 full time and 1 part time instructor.
Instructors can support participants in a 1:4 ratio. The
program operates Monday thru Friday 8-4pm with most people
attending full time. Some people have part time involvement.
Gathering information from involved persons is very important
in planning, coordinating and implementing daily activities.
The planning process occurs twice a year and as necessary.
There is always something new being planned. A few examples
of past session themes are: Crafts, Baking, Bowling, Swimming,
Sensory, Spa days, Horticulture, Library, Music, Snoezelen,
Hikes, Exercise, and Scrap booking.
The program also continues to provide support in volunteer
experiences at Kitchener Parks & Recreation, Wings of
Paradise and Doon Heritage Crossroads. The main objective
of Adult Developmental Services is to provide people with
the opportunity to further explore and be involved in their
areas of interest, thus enjoying their overall day through
a variety of activity. |
