The Kinsmen Centre provides day support services to adults
(18+) who have a developmental challenge. The Program operates
Monday to Friday, from 8:30am to 3:30pm, and currently provides
support to 135 people. The Program is comprised of two components:
Production
In the Production Area the main focus is on completing
work assignments sub-contracted to us by local businesses.
This work includes mail preparation, light assembly, packaging,
labeling, refurbishing airline headsets etc. While the main
focus is on completing contract work, we encourage all participants
to achieve their best and challenge themselves to learn
and succeed, regardless of their vocational goals. Social
and personal development as well as recreation and leisure
pursuits are also facilitated here to provide a balanced
approach to community involvement eg. bowling at a neighbouring
bowling alley and cooking classes at a local community centre.
A.C.H.I.E.V.E. ('Advocating Choices and Helping Individuals
to Explore a Variety of Experiences')
The A.C.H.I.E.V.E. program assists participants in identifying
and exploring their interests. Support is provided in discovering
activities that cultivate these interests. A.C.H.I.E.V.E.
is a dynamic program that is always evolving to meet the
interests of those participating. The following are just
some of the activities that are currently supported by A.C.H.I.E.V.E.
- pet therapy, music therapy, exercise classes and swimming.
