Short Breaks (Respite)

Short Break visits are available at both our children and adult homes whereby your family member may come to visit for a while and spend some time away from their family home. In general, visits last about a week and routines that are important to the visitor such as school, work, and recreational activities would continue throughout the visit.

The Weekend Respite program offers support in the form of short breaks to parents of children aged 6 to 17 with a diagnosed developmental disability. Operating two weekends per month at 115 University Avenue East in Waterloo, the weekend respite program focuses on leisure-based activities.  Children participate in many community activities such as festivals, parades, movies, bowling, swimming, crafts and day trips.

These programs are individualized in order to accommodate various age groups and interests. Weekend Respite is an excellent opportunity for children to get away from home and spend time with new friends.
