SUMMER LEISURE COORDINATORS

The goal of the position is to help adults with a developmental disability explore and learn what our community has to offer and to have fun discovering new activities of interest (such as sports, the arts and community events).

Responsibilities:

  • Organizing and implementing a summer schedule aimed at exploring social, recreational, and leisure activities across Southern Ontario
  • Providing a respectful and supportive atmosphere that encourages exploration
  • Promoting people’s skills and abilities
  • Providing opportunities and education for growth and development


Requirements:

  • Some post-secondary education in Human Services and six months of related experience (experience working / volunteering with people who have a developmental disability preferred)
  • Commitment to providing person-directed support, fostering independence, and advocating for others
  • Able to demonstrate creative problem-solving and decision-making, initiative, resilience, and collaboration
  • Candidates must be able to provide personal care, positive behavioural support, be energetic, enthusiastic, highly motivated, flexible, organized, with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • First-Aid, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI), and WHMIS training an asset
  • A valid driver’s license and basic computer skills required.

 

PLEASE NOTE: Applicants must be between 15-30 years of age, legally entitled to work in Canada and have a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN). **Positions and dates are contingent on funding provided by Canada Summer Jobs.

 

Schedule: 35 hours per week – Monday to Friday with some flexibility (trips may involve evenings or weekends).
Start Date: Approx. June 19, 2023
End Date: August 31, 2023
Pay Rate: $21.09 / hour
