SUMMER LEISURE COORDINATORS
LOCATION: KITCHENER-WATERLOO, ON
KW Habilitation is a local not-for-profit organization that provides a wide range of individualized services and supports to children with any special need and adults with developmental disabilities. We support individuals to live a fulfilling life which is fostered through preschool and early learning supports, respite services, residential services, community participation and employment supports. The goal of the position is to help adults with a developmental disability explore and learn what our community has to offer and to have fun discovering new activities of interest (such as sports, the arts and community events).

Responsibilities:
- Organizing and implementing a summer schedule aimed at exploring social, recreational, and leisure activities across Southern Ontario
- Providing a respectful and supportive atmosphere that encourages exploration
- Promoting people’s skills and abilities
- Providing opportunities and education for growth and development
Requirements:
- Some post-secondary education in Human Services and six months of related experience (experience working / volunteering with people who have a developmental disability preferred)
- Commitment to providing person-directed support, fostering independence, and advocating for others
- Able to demonstrate creative problem-solving and decision-making, initiative, resilience, and collaboration
- Candidates must be able to provide personal care, positive behavioural support, be energetic, enthusiastic, highly motivated, flexible, organized, with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- First-Aid, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI), and WHMIS training an asset
- A valid driver’s license and basic computer skills required.
PLEASE NOTE: Applicants must be between 15-30 years of age, legally entitled to work in Canada and have a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN). **Positions and dates are contingent on funding provided by Canada Summer Jobs.
Schedule: 35 hours per week – Monday to Friday with some flexibility (trips may involve evenings or weekends).
Start Date: Approx. June 19, 2023
End Date: August 31, 2023
Pay Rate: $21.09 / hour
