Fall sessions for LEG Up! are just around the corner and registration is OPEN NOW. There are some awesome LEG Up! courses being offered from September to November that you won’t want to miss out on!

Music for Mindfulness and Meditation

In our Music for Mindfulness and Meditation course, learn mindfulness and meditation techniques to music to relieve stress and relax. Evidence suggests music can help calm your nervous system and lower cortisol levels, both of which can help reduce stress and anxiety. This new LEG Up! course will provide you with mindfulness techniques using music therapy to encourage self-love and self-care.

Abuse Prevention Education (APE)

With the Abuse Prevention Education (APE) course, participants will learn how to stay safe in the community. This course is intended for those who live in the community and do not quality for APE training provided by KW Habilitation. Please connect with LEG Up! to clarify. By the end of this course, participants will have a better understanding of the following topics:

  • Understanding Yes and No Feelings
  • Identifying Types of Abuse
  • Learning Boundaries
  • How to be Assertive
  • My Rights and Responsibilities
  • Decision-Making and Reporting Abuse
  • Developing a Safety Plan
  • Recognizing What is Not Abuse

Myths and Monsters

Ever wonder– what is the truth behind famous creatures and legendary monsters? In this brand new LEG Up! Course called Myths and Monsters, students will learn about new mythological creatures or monsters each week. We will discuss the stories and fables surrounding the creature, possible scientific explanations and decide if they are science fiction or science fact.

Here are some of the topics we will be exploring:

  • Sprites, Faeries and Pixies
  • Mythical Creatures of Ancient Greece and Rome
  • Abominable Snowman and Bigfoot
  • Unicorns, Pegasi, and Gryphons
  • Gnomes, Goblins, and Elves
  • Werewolves, Vampires, and Zombies
