Thank You: Jane

It’s National Volunteer Week!  We are privileged to work with volunteers every single day at KW Habilitation as the volunteer program has become an essential part of our organization.  During national volunteer week, we will be recognizing some of the volunteers who have helped us come together with our community to inspire abilities and enrich the lives of children, youth and families at KW Habilitation.

Jane Tuer has volunteered on our Board of Directors for several years and is currently the Vice-President.  Recently, Jane was awarded the K-W Oktoberfest Rogers Women of the Year award for Community Service.  We are so lucky to have her on our Board!  When we asked Jane about her experience why she volunteers with KW Habilitation, her reply was:

Jane Tuer 0566 Colour web‘I’ve been volunteering with KWHAB on the board of directors for 5 years and am currently the Vice-President.  I’ve been working with staff of KWHAB for 20 years in my capacity as the Executive Director of Project READ Literacy Network Waterloo-Wellington.  I’m involved as a volunteer because I can see the excellent work that KWHAB staff does with their dedication to their clients and it just makes you want to be a part of it all.  Also the fact that KWHAB is a forward thinking organization – proactive and not reactive is exciting and fresh in non-profit work.  And the board and staff are just fun to be around, which makes volunteering a pleasure.  Just like being a life-long learner, I’m a life-long volunteer and will always give back to the community I live in. ’

Thanks Jane!
